Report Release: COVID 19 and the Impact on Latinos in the U.S.

Our voices aren’t being heard right now, and our communities deserve better. It's critical we tell our stories and organize for the solutions we need. Understanding the impact is the first step.

COVID-19 is hitting our gente hard. We know all too well what it’s looking like in barrios and communities across the country. It’s time we expressed -- in our own words -- how this pandemic is impacting Latinx people in the US. We are dying at alarming rates from this virus, the result of systemic inequalities that we've long been fighting. There is no real choice between going to work to put food on the table and staying home to prevent exposure to the virus. This is the cruel set of options that the unjust system in the US has forced upon our community. We’re here to knock them down and fight back so that our gente not just survive but come out stronger on the other side of this crisis.

That's why we're proud to partner with the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) — which has a long legacy in Latinx working people’s circles — to shine a light on our community's challenges and to push to center our needs and solutions to address this pandemic. Together, we’re releasing a report detailing how COVID-19 is sweeping through the Latinx community, grounding our analysis in statistics but most importantly highlighting our people and their stories in this moment.

No one can talk about us without us, so please help spread the word about the report and join us to fight for the relief we need.
