These times we’re living in can be confusing and hard to navigate, but as always, we’re doing everything we can to keep us safe

At a time when very little attention is paid to the alarming rates of COVID-19 in Latinx communities in NC, our compas at Siembra NC stepped in to provide much needed resources of free masks and face coverings to our gente. Our team of organizers and volunteers has teamed up with Siembra NC to provide on the spot registration for our gente who are eligible and still unregistered.

As cases for our gente in NC continue to rise, we have seen that some responses from people in political power haven’t recognized the difficulties that our community is facing. That’s why we need to do everything we can to make sure that our voices are heard in the coming election this November. And the way we do that is by first registering to vote. There’s 200,000 Latinxs in NC who still need to register - and 50 thousand latinos who are turning 18 before November who can register too.

The laws in NC affect all of our gente, so we want to make sure that the needs of our community won’t be ignored any longer. We will take our own steps to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and make sure that we’re using our political poder to vote and represent. Let’s show everyone what we mean when we say - aquí estamos y no nos vamos!
